The Koran Does Not Forbid Images of the Prophet

The Charlie Hebdo killers were operating under a misapprehension.

There seems to be a general agreement among scholars that images of Mohammed were acceptable within Islam historically and are not forbidden by the Koran. Modern day prohibitions of his image are cultural and promoted by radical Islamists such as the Taliban. As such, they are no different than Christian aversion to Piss Christ and other anti-religious expressions. The big difference is Christians don't kill in retribution - that is a particularly Islamic reaction.

Everything that has been reported on the P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran indicate that Iran will be authorized to develop a bomb and not penalized for it. The fig leaf will be to prevent upgrading bomb materials to bomb level, but this is something that can be done within months or at most a year if Iran later decides to do it. At that point, the only option available to the world is military, which would not be likely. So, the deal pursued by Obama/Kerry is de facto endorsement of the Iran as a nuclear nation capable ot sending nuclear tipped missiles as far as the U.S.
