Love and the battle to keep it alive — or at least the apartment.
I finally agree with the writers of this recap. Lol. It was the best episode so far expressing the raw brutal honesty of a break up and it's aftermath, softened by humor, and the amazing power and beauty of friendship. Shoshana was brilliant again as was the writing. Not to mention it was educational too. I learned a new word - "woodshedding". Loved, loved it! Five Stars and a Z formation.
Hannah is struggling with writer’s block. Adam struggles to find his balance. And Shosh describes her role in the show perfectly.
The characters are in their 20s having a quarter life crisis like most 20 something people have. Shoshana has evolved the most out of the four women as evidenced by her speech to Ray and accepting his feedback about her challenges finding a job and fitting in the world .It was beautiful the way the script writer juxtaposed her mature and heartfelt apology to Ray and that of Hannah's apology to her classmates. It's clear Hannah has a longer way to go than Shosh. It's a process to grow and learn along the zigzagging road of life. Even the best fall down sometimes. The show has at least one more season to see the continual struggles and growth of these women. They are finally learning how to navigate the real world and come to terms with reality as well as discovering their identity. In my personal and professional experience as a clinical Social Worker some people don't even learn from these lessons until middle age or old age if yet at all. I believe the authors of this article would be wise to realize this and I don't agree with them about Adam's painful choice - his lack of courage to confront Hannah about his issues with their relationship instead of acting out passive aggressively. I find it hard to believe that the authors have not made some mistakes and wrong choices that they have learned from over the course of their lives. Lena Dunham is only expressing her observations through Hannah just like a musician pours their heart out in the words of their songs based on their or someone they know experiences. It' assists the audience live vicariously through her constantly evolving alter ego In this process the audience can have a cathartic experience just like people have had reading Greek tragedies or Shakespearean tragedies. This has definitely been one of my favorite episodes of all 4 seasons thus far.

Exactly what I was saying yesterday about Coach Sark and his success at UW. He is better than Kiffin but hopefully the numbers will play out at USC and be better than UW's numbers. He never truly got UWs program off the ground and pretty much anyone could get that team to improve a 0-12 season. He is very good with compliance and discipline and making sure players go to class and improve their grades which the USC team does need according to the latest NCAA reports. So that is positive. Also Sark generated a lot of love and allegiance from his players at UW so he probably will do the same at USC.
